Wilson Program

One program used at IICS is called the Wilson Program.  The Wilson Program is a systematic program for children with phonics/decoding programs. This program is used primarily as a morning daily Power Reading booster. This is taught to learning assistants and supervised by the school psychologist.

The Wilson Program starts will basic letter sound practice, moves into basic cvc word forms (cat, pit, hot), blends (sl, br, tr), 2 syllable words (hotspot, tomcat) and then final e (made, cake) with lots of repetition built in including nonsense words.
The Wilson Program is a grand daughter of the Orton Gillingham program for children with reading difficulties specifically in decoding.
